About Bangalore
Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka, a south
Indian State. Most of the famous IT and heavy industrial firms have their
head office in this city. INFOSYS, SATYAM, IBM, HAL are some of them. This
city is crowned with the glory of being the torchbearer of Indian IT
revolution. It has a cosmopolitan culture. It is the home to Kannada film
industry. Many prestigious institutes (IIM, II Sc., ISRO etc) are situated
in Bangalore.
Bangalore has also famous relics of past. The city is beautifully decorated
with ornate mosaic of palaces, gardens and many historical buildings. The
Vidhana Soudha, the Lal Bagh, the Bangalore palace, Tipu's palace, Ulsoor
lake are some of the places worth a visit in Bangalore.
The city is also a shopping paradise with all the leading brands having
their show room in the city. Bangalore is a metropolitan city with huge
corporate buildings and ancient British homes. It has a mixed population but
fast changes to the Socio-cultural system are giving rise to highly
polarized urban societies. Bangalore has the largest number of two wheelers
in India and some of the best brands in the cars could be seen in Bangalore
roads.
Attara Kacheri- This is a simple two storeyed building but have an
elegant shape, which makes it a remarkable monument. The building houses the
state high court and from this place one can easily stroll to public
library, government museum and Visveswaraya industrial and technological
museum.
The Lalbagh- This is a magnificent garden created by Hyder Ali in
1760 and later more decorated by his son Tipu Sultan. This 240 acre
beautiful garden preserve some very rare species of plants. The main
attraction is the glass house, a miniature of crystal palace of London is
the venue of bi annual flower shows.
Tipu's Palace- This is a fantastic fort built by Tipu Sultan in 1791
for summer retreat. The palace is two storeyed wooden structures with carved
pillars, arches and long balconies.
International Technological Park- Bangalore is also known as silicon
valley of India and the credit goes to International Technological Park.
There are magnificent software buildings and much to be a good tourist spot.
ISKCON Temple- The temple covered an area of 7 acre plot and took 32
crores to built this Krishna temple on the Hare Krishna Hills. The temple is
beautiful because of modern technology and spiritual harmony.
Not To Overlook-Excursions From Bangalore
Bheemeshwari- It is located 100 km south of Bangalore on the bank of
Cauvery. It takes around 2 hours to reach the place. Here yo can get
glimpses of rare species of birds,wild elephants and sloth bears but the
main attraction of Bheemeshwari is fishing. There are fishing camps are run
by jungle lodges as wildlife retreats and adventure resorts. Also there are
option of trekking to the neighboring hills.
Shivanasamudram- Rolling foothills and green expanses, this
beautiful place is located 109 km south of Bangalore. The place is a domain
of mother nature. Gentle rolling foothills,seduce with their pristine
freshness. One can get a sublime experience in the the virgin wood forest.
There are two famous waterfalls known as Barachukki and Gaganachukki.
Mysore- Mysore is also known as world's heritage city, a place of
magnificent palaces, beautiful gardens,boulevards and planned markets. The
place is also famous for Mysore silk,the fragrance of sandalwood,incense
sticks,Mysore jasmine,the aroma of Mysore masala dosa and tangy taste of
Mysore betel leaf.
BR Hills - The BR hills are located 235 km south of Bangalore and
take around 5 hours to reach that place. BR Hills is an excellent area for
wildlife,trekking and adventure activities. The terrain is dotted by peaks
and hilltop temples. The forest cover is thick,with wide range of flora and
fauna. The presence of river like Cauvery and other makes it an excellent
spot for professional angling,amature fishing,coracle boat rides and river
rafting. The place is also good for seeing aquatic animals and tropical
birds. The lush landscape is ideal for trekking,outdoor camping and trips to
nearby coffee estate.
Bandipur- The place is 235 km south west to Bangalore and known for
its much illustrious national park. It is one of the earlier tiger reserve
in the country but reptiles like python, king cobra, different type of
snakes are prevalent. You can easily spot herd of spotless deer here and
there in the park. The popular way to stroll around the park is on the jeep.
Location- Situated in the heart of the South-Deccan plateau in
peninsular India and on the South-Eastern corner of Karnataka State.
Climate- Bangalore is situated in the Deccan plateau and enjoys a
moderate weather throughout the year. Maximum temperature can be 39 degree
Celsius while the minimum could be 8 degree Celsius. However temperatures
rarely go below 12 degree Celsius.
How To Reach?
By Air- Bangalore airport is known as HAL airport,which is located 6
km from the main city. The airport is busy and connected to almost all major
cities of India,also Bangalore is connected with some major cities of the
world also..
By Rail- Bangalore is linked to all major Indian cities by rail.
Several super fast trains such as Shatabhi, Bridavan, Lalbagh express
connect Bangalore to Chennai. Also Bangalore is connected with Delhi, Mumbai
and other important cities of India.
By Road- Major National Highways connects Bangalore to Chennai and
Mumbai. Other cities and towns of the state and neighboring states are also
connected by road. The Main bus terminal in the city is opposite City
Railway Station. Government and private buses plying regularly from the
place.
