Destination Coverd : Paro Thimphu Trongsa
Punakha - Paro
Day1 : Arrival Paro
From your destination you will fly on Druk Airport based in Paro. During
the journey you will experience the breathtaking views of the Himalayan
ranges including the Mt. Jichu Drak and Chomolhari. On your arrival at Paro,
you will be met by our representative at the airport and than transferred to
the hotel, booked in advance for you. There you will have detailed briefing
of the tour by our expert guide. Overnight in the Hotel.
Day 2 Paro Thimphu
In the morning of the 2nd day we will set out on the sightseeing tour to
the exicting place called Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. We will start
our journey from Tashichho Dzong, (Fortress of the Glorious Religion), built
in 1641 it is the main attraction in Thimphu. It is the main secretarial
building which houses the throne room of His Majesty the King of Bhutan.
There after we will make a visit to the National Library, which holds a vast
collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts. We will also visit the Painting
School, famous for carving and free hand art. After lunch we will proceed
towards the National Memorial Chorten, a monument dedicated to the Third
King of Bhutan. His Late Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The inside
paintings and statues provide a very rare insight into Buddhist Philosophy.
Then we will visit Handicrafts Emporium to see the exquisite artistry of
traditional crafts and textiles. In the evening we will watch the National
sports of Bhutan- Archery. Bows and arrows used in the game are made of
bamboo. In the dinner we will taste the most popular and spicy dish of
Bhutan called emadatse made of chillies and cheese. Overnight in the hotel
in Thimphu.
Day 03 : Paro
On the 3rd day of the tour we will drive to Trongsa from Thimphu. In
between the route we will pass through the Wangdiphodrang, famous for the
stone carvings and Bamboo work. After the four hours drive we will reach
Trongsa, which is the popular religious centre. We will experience the
Buddhist religion, which still forms the main part of their life. We can see
the mantra chanting monks roaming in the Dzong. We will offer prayers at the
Dzong and spun the wheel while saying the prayer. We can witness the glow of
butter lamps in the houses. In the afternoon hot lunch will be served to us.
After lunch we will watch the local people weaving their own textiles from
hand. From here we will shop for the machine woven carpets sold here at much
reasonable price. After shopping we will spend time at leisure in the
evening. Dinner and overnight in the hotel in Trongsa.
Day 04 : Trongsa Punakha
On the 4th day of the tour we will get up early in the morning and will
have local chai (tea) called Suja with the local people. After that we leave
for Punakha. On our way to Punakha we will glimpse the fascinating forests
of oak and pine. We will pass through the small villages. One can feel the
sweet and unassuming silence of the serene environment. On the way we will
also enjoy the spectacular view of the mountains. Witness the winter home of
the yak herders. We will also spot the Blue sheep and snow leopards in the
jungles. At Punakha we will make a visit to the Punakha Dzong. We will
converse with the Sharchopas and Lhotsampas (local people of the region). We
will witness the traditional costumes of the Bhutanese people. After the day
long excursion we will spend overnight in the hotel in Punakha.
Day 05 : Punakha Paro
On the 5th day of the tour we will be visiting the major attractions of
Paro. We will begin our tour from the Ta Dzong, which is the most
dominating dzong in the kingdom. It was re-established as the National
Museum and holds the fascinating collection of art, relics and religious
paintings. After that we will leave for Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress
that holds the great historical significance. From here we will witness the
commanding view of Mount Chomolhari, below the Dzong. We can witness the red
peppers being dried up on the roof of the houses.

In
the evening we will go shopping the colorful masks, hand-woven bamboo items,
wood carvings, stamps (coveted by collectors), silver, silk, tea, bronzes,
handmade paper products, Buddhist paintings and religious thangkas from the
weekend market.
We can see the prayer flags in abundance on the hills and high passes We
will witness the traditional Bhutanese houses made of mud, bamboo and wood.
Their windows are often painted with the animal or floral designs. We will
learn and experience about the rich cultural heritage and unique way of its
lifestyle with people in Paro. After that we will enjoy the traditional
dance performed by the local people. In the dinner at night we will take the
Yak meat along with rice and chillies. Onernight in the hotel at Paro.
Day 6: Paro Departure
6th day is the last day of the tour. After breakfast our executive will
drop you to the Paro International Airport for the onward journey.
