Gangtey Paro
Day
01 : Paro
During the journey one will experience the breathtaking views of the
magnificent mountains. On arrival at the Paro International Airport you will
be received by our representative with the warm welcome and transferred to
the hotel in Paro for the overnight stay.
Day 02 : Paro
Today on the 2nd day of the tour we will take the excursion trip to the
Paro valley that possess the wealth of cultural attractions. Today we will
have the good opportunity to glimpse the traditional Buddhist culture. The
trial will take us through the evergreen forests. After the breakfast we
will drive to Drukgyal Dzong, which is a ruined fortress - 16 Kms. away from
Paro town. It was here that the Bhutanese finally defeated the invading
Tibetans and drove them back. From here, we will enjoy the magnificent view
of the Jhomolhari Peak also known as the Mountain of the Goddess.
We will spend some time at this place admiring the natural beauty of the
place. We will converse with monks and know about their lifestyle. On our
way back we will visit a typical Bhutanese farmhouse. Here we will venture
in the fields barefooted. We will enchant with the farmers and will see them
at work. After that we will make a visit the Paro Rinpung Dzong. This
massive fortress is located on a small hill just above the Paro River
(Pa-Chu) in the Paro valley. Than we will stop for the hot lunh at the
ancient wooden bridge. We will witness the prayer flags on the way. After
lunch, visit the National Museum (Ta-Dzong). It is a Watch Tower of the Paro
Rinpung Dzong and was converted into the National Museum in 1965. Than we
will take our route back to the road to reach the hotel. Witness the houses
of the Paro valley which are considered as the most beautiful in the whole
Bhutan. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 03 : Paro - Thimphu
In the morning of the 3rd day of the tour we will take the luxury stroll
around the hotel. We will encounter Takin which is the National animal of
Bhutan. After that we will get ready and leave for Thimphu. We will drive
through the terraced fields along the river banks and enjoy the scenic view
of the blue pine and temperate evergreen forests. We will begin our journey
from the Tascichhodzong that was reconstructed in the 1961 by the King Jigme
Dorji Wangchuck. After ward we will visit the Memorial Chorten - the stupa
built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan's third King. Than we will visit the
National library in Thimphu that preserves the thousand of manuscripts and
ancient texts. After exploring the National Library we will take the lunch
in the local restaurant. After lunch we will visit the Handicrafts Emporium.
From here we can shop for the exotic weaves in wool, silk and cotton,
beautiful basketwork, silver jewelry, thangkha and other crafts of the
Kingdom. In the last we will make a visit to the Painting School. Here we
can see the students at work producing intricate designs on cloth. In the
evening we will explore the colourful market of Thimphu. Enchant with the
local people wearing the finest hand woven clothes. Enjoy watching
traditional crafts men and women at work. We will shop for the handicrafts
items, texitles, traditional masks and other items that we will take back
home. We will purchase unique Bhutanese stamps from the post office. We will
witness the old wooden houses all painted and constructed in traditional
Bhutanese architectural style. Overnight stay in the hotel in Thimphu that
has been pre-booked.
Day 04 : Thimphu - Punakha
Today we will get up early in the morning and take a small walk around the
hotel. After breakfast we will move towards Punakha. On the way we will
glimpse the small villages and beautiful forests. We will also take pictures
of the marvelous flora and fauna. Here we can truly appreciate the essence
of Bhutanese people and a preserved steadfast culture. We will pass through
the Dochula Pass, which provides the spectacular view of the Himalayas.
First of all we will visit the Punakha Dzong, that lies between the two
rivers, the Po Chu and Mo Chu, the male and the female rivers. After that
packed lunch will be served to us. After taking the lunch we will visit
Chimi Lhakhang - a temple popularly recognized as a pilgrimage site for
childless couples to receive blessings. Afterward we take a walk in the
paddy fields. In the evening we will witness the religious masked and
cultural dances amongst colourful Bhutanese villagers. Overnight in the
hotel in Punakha.
Day 05 : Punakha - Wangdi
After morning refreshment on the 5th day of the tour we leave for Wangdi.
We will spot the herds of Blue Sheeps and Yaks. We can see the see the yak
herders wearing the costumes made of yak hair, blended with the bamboo hats.
We will also glimpse the yak hair tents made by the yak herders. We will
pass through the valley of Wangdiphodrang popularly known as the home of
Shar. After the short descend we will reach Wangdiphodrang Dzong on the
steep ridge overlooking the highway. This place holds both the historical
and religious significance. Rest of the day we will spend time exploring the
villages and shops in Wangdi. We will enjoy traditional dinner with the
villagers. Overnight stay at the Kichu resort in Wangdiphodrang.
Day
06 : Wangdi - Gangtey - Paro
Today we will woke to the chanting of the young student monks called
gomchens. After breakfast we will take the excursion trip famous Gangtey
Gompa. We will explore the Phobijika Valley. We will spot the endangered
black necked cranes that migrate around this lush valley. We will admire the
natural beauty of this fascinating glacier valley. We will pass through
mixed forest of juniper, magnolia, and rhododendron to the remote hamlets
and farmland of Gogona and Khotokha. After the full day sightseeing we will
Paro in the evening. Overnight in the hotel in Paro.
Day 7 : Paro Departure 7th is the last day of the tour after the
morning breakfast our representative will drop you to the Paro International
Airport for the onward journey.
