Built
by Quli Qutub Shah, in 1591, Charminar is a splendid piece of architecture
standing in the heart of the hyderabad city. This magnificent monument is
the unique symbol of
Hyderabad.
Charminar is often called as "The Arc de triomphe of the East". It
is considered as the legendary masterpiece of Qutub Shahi's.
Charminar derives its name from four intricately carved minarets. The four
graceful minarets literally meaning 'Four Minars', soar to a height of 48.7m
each, above the ground. It is located amidst the colourful shops of Lad
Bazaar with its glittering traditional bangles in the old city. Enormous in
its size, this imposing monument of India exudes a charm that is more than
400 years old
Mr Brown from Australia said Char Minar is a beautifully masterpiece
in India. I went to Hyderabad in the year 2005 and explored many facets of
the place. But till date what I clearly remember is Char Minar.
My rickshaw went through narrow lanes of Hyderabad streets when I came face
to face with Char Minar. Though a rickshaw ride was not that comfortable for
me but for Char Minar it was worth. I would like to have a rickshaw ride
again just for Char Minar.

The Charminar was built by Qali Qutab Shah, keeping in mind the inadequacy
of water and frequent epidemics of plague and cholera with four great roads
fanning out in four cardinal directions.
The foundation is a 20X20 m square, while the four arches are 11m wide and
rise 20m from the structure. The four-storied minarets, measuring 24m from
the plinth rise 20m from the roof of the monument. A mosque in the western
part is one of the best pieces of art.
The charminar, a representation Of Indo-Sarcenic Tradition, was built with
granite and lime-mortar. 'Cazia' and Islamic style of architecture are
blended in the monument. The graceful floral motif atop the Charminar is
enchanting.
It offers an excellent panoramic view of the city and Golconda Fort,
especially during the night. Charminar has become an inseparable part of
modern Indian tourism hubs.
I quite liked the architecture of this place. Especially the
architecture which was just phenomenal. I would love to capture its various
poses of Char Minar detailing every minutest details. added Mr
Brown.
Shopping in Lad Bazaar: Being one of the oldest Bazaar of Hyderabad,
Lad Bazaar has now become an indispensible part of Hyderabad, India. You
would love to roam around Lad Bazaar and shop intricate artifacts.
Khilwat Complex : A well structured complex with lies in close
promity to Lad Bazaar.
Nizamia Unani Hospital : Located very close to the Char Minar,
Nizamia Unani Hospital is a well built hospital in serving the residents
with Unani medicine.

As a piece of history, Char Minar offers nothing but stories related to its
existence. If you are amongst those who love architecture and designs , then
a visit to Char minar is must.
Aaaaa as you said, I gathered nothing but memories, ample of
them. Personally I feel it is one of the best places in Hyderabad.Finished
Mr Brown.
