Wangduephodrang Thimphu - Paro
Day 01 : Arrive Phuentsholing.

You
would land at the Paro airport, on the 1st day of the tour, from here our
staff member would transfer you to the hotel in Thimphu. Overnight stay in
the hotel.
Day 02 : Phuentsholing-Thimphu (180 km, 6 hours).
As the 2nd day starts we will get up early in the morning as we would be
visiting the major Thimphu attractions on this day. Thimphu is the smallest
capital city in the world. In the morning after the breakfast we drive
towards the Memorial Chorten -the Stupa built in the memory of Bhutan's
third king. There after we will visit the nunnery in Zulikha. Then we will
make our visit to the Wood Craft and Painting school, the modern attraction
in Bhutan. From there we move towards the Handicrafts Emporium, to shop for
the exotic handicrafts items. It reflects the traditional art, architecture,
culture and tradition of Bhutan. Than comes the National Library where
ancient manuscripts are preserved. In the evening we will take a sightseeing
tour around the town and stroll around the local market area. After the day
long sightseeing tour we drive to the hotel. Spicy Bhutanese Dinner would be
served to you with a night stay in the hotel.
Day 03 : Gangtey Gompa Gogona
The trekking expedition actually starts on the 3 rd day of the tour. After
morning breakfast we leave for the Gangtey Gompa. On the way we pass through
the Dochula Pass, marked by the array of the prayer flags. As we move
upwards on the hill above the pass we get the magnificent view of the
Himalayas. So there we take the halt at the cafeteria for the tea and snacks
break. On our way to the Gangtey Gompa we pass through the Paunakha
the fortress town with the important Buddhist monastery. We will also have
the glimpse of the glorious Punakha Dzong, which lies between the two rivers
known as Pochu and Mochu (means male river and the female river). After the
2-3 hours we will reach Wangdi where hot lunch will be served to us. From
there we make our move towards the Gangtey situated at an altitude of 3000
meters. It is the extremely beautiful place surrounded by the snow-capped
mountains from all the sides. Magnificent hills and overall greenery adds
charm to its beauty. From there we can have a close view of the glorious
Phobjikha valley. After the short climb we reach the Gangtey Gompa,
surrounded by the large village called Gogona. Than after the day long
excursion we move towards the guest-house in Gangtey owned by the Gangtey
Tulku. It is the only lighted guest house in the whole valley. We will enjoy
the typically Bhutanese dinner with the Gomchens (Lay monks).
Day 04 : Gogona Khotokha
On the 4th day of the tour spend time at leisure. We will enchant with the
people of Gogona in Bhopkha (the language of the nomads). Than we will take
the breakfast and get ready for the further trekking adventure. On the trail
we pass through the forests of oak, spruce, rhododendron, cypress and
junipers. We also spot the black necked cranes (classified as endangered
specie) on the route. We have also made arrangements for the small horse
riding trip. On the back of the horse we pass through the vast farm lands on
the trek. Enjoy the enormous beauty of the region spread all over. Halt,
after he lunch, a long and gradual climb takes up to the Shobju- la-pass at
an altitude of 3, 400 meters. As we move downwards from the pass, we enter
into the wide valley called Khotokha, surrounded by the beautiful mountain
ranges. The region is scenic. We can witness the farmers working in the
fields. We may also spot the herders grazing their animals. After the
delicious hot dinner we will spend night in the camps.
Day 05 : Gangtey Gompa-Gogona,
After refreshments on the 5th day of the tour we leave for the
Wangduephodrang. We will fill up the water bottles from here as the water is
scarce. We will make a visit to the village on this day. You may find the
houses without the glasses. After that we will take a walk in the rice
fields. Than we will Take the lunch with the villagers. Our trekking
expedition ends here. Over night stay at the hotel in Wangduephodrang.
Day 06 : Gogona- Khotokha,

After
the long trekking expedition and exploring the attractions of
Wangduephograng, we drive for Thimphu. Rest, and then in the afternoon we
leave for Tashicho Dzong (a 350 year old structure built by the Shabdrung
Ngawang Namgyal and remodelled in 1961 to house government departments and
ministries. In the evening we take a stroll around the streets in Thimphu.
The shops and houses are decorated in the traditional style. Here you may
spot the people in colourful costumes, wearing the beads necklace. Then we
will take the the dinner and go back to the hotel in Thimphu for the
overnight stay.
Day 07 : Khotokha-Chazam
On the 7th day of the tour we will be taking the sightseeing tour of Paro.
We drive up to Taktsang Monastery it is the place of pilgrimage for
the local people. It is also known as the Tigers Nest. The Monastery
is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of nearly 4000 ft. and
overlooks the Paro Valley. Notice the houses of the Paro valley which are
considered as the most attractive in the whole country. Witness the women
wearing Kira (an ankle length dress) and the men wearing Gho (coat like knee
length garment). In the evening watch the cultural dances performed by the
local people. Overnight stay in the hotel in Paro.
Day 08 : Punakha-Paro (125 km, 4.1/2 hours).
After the early breakfast we drive for the Paro International Airport.
Enjoy the superb view of the mountains and carry on with your further
journey.
