Khencho, Thimphu
Day 01 : Arrival Paro .
On
arrival at the Paro airport our representative will pick you up with the
warm welcome. To ease your traveling tiredness you will be having a
overnight stay in the hotel (pre- booked for you).
Day 02 : Paro – Shana
After morning breakfast on the 2nd day we will get ready for the trekking
expedition in Bhutan. First of all we will drive up to the Drukgyal Dzong
where the road ends and the trek begins. Drukgyal has the great historical
importance for the people Bhutan. As we pass through the vast farm lands on
this trek , we get the opportunity to enchant with the semi nomads passing
through the same route. We take a short downhill walk on the wide trail,
which follows to the Paro river. We will stop at this particular destination
to enjoy the thrill of the white water rafting in this untamed river. As
soon as we are done with adventure of white water rafting we will take a
small lunch break and relax ourself. There after we will head towards the
Jigme Dorji National Park, the home to the number of wild attractions. Spot
the snow leopards and red pandas on the sightseeing tour of the park. The
tour takes us to the small parts of the parks including the Gasa and Laya
region. The people here are totally dependent on the yaks of their living.
In the evening we will take a nature walk to explore the park. After the day
long exhaustion we move towards our camps and spent the overnight in the
camp Shana.
Day 03 : Shana – Soi-Thangthangkha
On the 3rd day we get up early in the morning and after breakfast we again
start our trekking expedition from Shana to Soi Thangthangkha. This trek
take us through the pine, oak and spur forests. The vast greenery of the
forests surely refresh your senses completely. The trek also provides us the
magnificent view of the mountains. As this trek is extremely rich in its
natural flora and fauna we will also be taking pictures covering the immense
beauty of this place. There after we will move towards the small villages
for the cultural exploration. Witness the traditional outfits of the local
people decorated with chunky stones of coral and turquoise and silver spoons
turned into necklaces. The houses constructed here have no windows. Talk to
the local villagers who are known for their warm behaviour and experience
the old customs practiced in these villages. After the village visit we
relax in our camps at an altitude of 3800 meters near the stone shelter.

Day 04 : Soi-Thangthangkha - Jangothang
4th day is the another exiting day of the tour. After breakfast we follow
the trek route passing through the river to the dense forests. Firstly we
will cross the army out-post along the way. Here we will get the opportunity
to spot different species of birds. Listen to the melodious singing of the
wide variety of birds that are found here. One can also spot the minute
species of birds through their binoculars. One may also encounter Himalayan
Blue Sheep and snow leopard in this area. This trek has an incredible array
of attractions that will leave you humbled and amazed by the beauty of the
surrounding areas. After the long hours nature exploration hot lunch will be
served to us near the fields. Here you may find people belonging to the
Layap tribal group. They have a unique language and a different dressing
style. Experience the lifestyle of these tribal people. After the sort walk
you will reach the camp at Jangothang at an altitude of 4040 meters. Enjoy
the superb view of the Mt. Chomolhari and Jichu Drakey. Overnight in the
camps.
Day 05 : Jangothang - Tshophu Lake
Today on the 5th day of the tour we walk up to the Jhomolhari glacier or to
the Tshophu lakes. This is where the stunning views greet us all through the
route. The trail follows the stream for half an hour and crosses the bridge
to the right as we where we start the climb up to the first ridge with
breathtaking views of Jhomolhari. After the delicious breakfast we trek up
to the Tshophu lake for fishing. Then after rest we will get ready for the
hiking excursion. There are good short hiking trials in three directions.
This is the most exciting adventurous activity that can be enjoyed here.
There after we take a sightseeing tour in the ecological rich environment.
We will spend the one whole day exploring the valley. Witness the alpine
forests full of medicinal plants. Do-not miss the glimpse of Blue Poppy,
which is the Bhutan's National Flower. On the trek we will take the scenic
view of natural beauty and the panoramic view of snow covered mountains.
After the full day sightseeing we will come back to our campsites. Overnight
stay at the camp.
Day 06 : Tshophu Lake – Lingshi
We will take a morning nature walk around the tent on the 6th day of the
tour. Then after breakfast we will get ready for the onward journey of the
tour. As we walk we find the wide yak pastures all along the path as we pass
by. Yaks will be accompanying you to most part of the trek. Notice the
remote settlements around Lingshi. Enchant with the nomadic yak herders and
their families. You may pass through the land where you will view the yak
herders grazing their animals. You may also come across the winter homes of
the yak herders. After that we will then climb to the Nylle La Pass at 4890
meters. After the short walk we will reach Lingshi. We will pass through the
sparse vegetation and stunning glaciers will surround us from all sides on
this route. In the evening we will be taking the excursion trip to the
Lingshi Dzong or to the Tsokha Lake at 4,500m. We will spot the large herds
of mask deer in this area. There after we reach the yak hair tents for the
overnight stay.
Day 07 : Lingshi – Shodu
On the 7th day of the tour we will spend the morning hours at leisure.
After refreshment we start with our trekking tour. The trail climbs up to
the Yalila Pass at an altitude of 4820 m. The slanting trek excites you.
Today we will be taking the lunch with the typically Bhutanese family. Our
lunch will include the yak's milk cheese famous in whole Bhutan. Our trek
from the pass to camp site at Shodu is steep down hill. We will making the
camp in the stone shelter or in the tent. After dinner, night stay in the
camp.
Day 08 : Shodu – Barshong
8th day of the tour is the another most exciting day of the tour. This is
the place where one comes back to the tree line. We will follow the path to
the Thimphu river. We will picnic hard at this destination. Rhododendron,
juniper and alpine forests surrounds us from all the sides. The stunning
view of the waterfalls enthralls you completely. On the river side hot lunch
will be served for us. After lunch we start moving and the trial gradually
ascends to the ruins of Barshong Dzong, reaching the camp at an altitude of
3600 meters. Overnight stay in the camp.
Day 09 : lingshi- Shodu,
Once
you have finished exploring the waterfalls and pristine forests, on the 9th
day we will pass through the bamboo forests. This is the last trek we will
be passing through. After the short trek we will reach Dolem Khencho.
Overnight stay at the camp.
Day 10 : Dolam Khencho – Thimphu
10th day of the tour is fully reserved for the sightseeing tour in Thimphu.
In the morning we will visit the Memorial Chorten (a great stupa) built in
memory of the Third King of Bhutan. Than we will pay the visit the mini Zoo.
After that we proceed our visit to nunnery in Zulikha. Then we will visit
the Wood Craft and Painting school where traditional arts and crafts are
still kept alive through the instructions of painting and curving. After
that we will visit the Handicrafts Emporium from where we will buy some of
the Bhutanese textiles. Than comes the National Library where ancient
manuscripts are preserved. We will also visit Simtokha Dzong on the way.
Than comes the Visit Tashichho Dzong, the main secretariat building and one
of the major attractions of Thimphu. Over night Hotel in Thimphu.
Day 11 : Paro Departure
11th day is the last day of our Jhomolhari Trek Tour. After breakfast we
drive to Paro International airport for the onward journey.
