Kerala is today known as Gods own country. I would say Kerala
is just like the phrase suggests. Kerala is situated on the south-western
part of the Indian peninsula. The land has along coastlines which is dotted
with small islands. These islands are surrounded by backwards, which give
Kerala its own unique identity, district from the rest of India. The state
of Kerala has everything which a tourist craves for you name it and
it has got it! Waterfalls, rivers, mountains, forests, lake, wild life
sanctuaries and above all, the sea beaches make Kerala a travelers
paradise.
Tourism is a major industry of this state and hence, it is nothing but
obvious that great care has been taken to cater the needs of both domestic
and international tourists. Guided tours to various tourist destinations are
extremely popular. Some of these places include Jew Town (the only Jewish
settlement in India) situated in the Ernakulam district, Periyar wildlife
sanctuary which is a nature lovers treat, the Athirapally waterfalls
and the world famous Kovalam beach near Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala.
The canoe rides on the backwaters are something that no tourist should miss!
The reason why a traveler should visit the place is many. A part from the
scenic beauty, the state boasts of hundreds of hotels (budgeted hotels,
three stars, 5 stars along with guest houses). Kerala is connected to
all parts of India through rail, roadways and airways. It also has an
international airport. The traveler can also visit the place to undergo
ayurvedic treatment for various ailments. Apart from that, Kerala offers a
variety of cuisines to cater to the different taste buds. All in all Kerala
is a tourists paradise.
