For past three months I was almost frustrated with as usual lifestyle and
desperate to get rid of it. I can really call myself an adventurous person
as I love heights, water, wildlife and explore the unexplored. When I got a
call from one of my friends to join him for a river rafting in Rishikesh, I
didnt think twice to accept his offer. It was a welcome break after a
long time. I decided to put all my office frustration aside and give myself
an opportunity.
The night before I was to leave, I could barely sleep - I had surreal
images of sitting on a raft and getting washed away by mighty Ganga. We left
Delhi late afternoon and reached at night in Rishikesh. We had already
booked our room in a Ashram.
Early morning after strolling in and around Lakshman Jhula we straight went
to our rafting agent. We had already booked our trip. After having our
breakfast, followed by a nature walk and a game of volleyball, cricket and
just hung around the shore....Then came the real thing. We
reached the spot from where we were to start our journey into the heart of
the Ganges. We all put on our rafting gear. Were briefed the basic
instruction. There were four people in our boat and after a loud scream jai
Ganga ma we went. I must tell that I had shown much guts than
remaining three people because I didnt know swimming. The experience
is mind blowing. I forgot everything about my home in Delhi, office
problems, my life it all faded away. The water hits you in the face,
your raft turns.... the adrenaline rush it gives is beyond description. The
experience of roller coaster ride was the most dangerous one. We
were lucky enough not to turn, other one us did turn, throwing two girls out
in the water.
After a strenuous 3 hours ride, we decided to stop. Next thing we did float
on the Ganges for more than 40minutes. The pristine clean and amazingly
chilled water was amusingly relaxing. We reached our halting point, where
lunch was waiting for us. In a warm sunlight, we all sat, though drenched we
ate and swallow the unforgettable experience.
