My most recent visit was to Teen Murti House and the adjoining museum and
library. Teen Murti House is the place where Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first
Prime Minister of Independent India, resided during his life time. He never
stayed at the official Prime Ministers House that we have today.
Teen Murti House is now, converted into museum. The whole place is
surrounded by beautiful gardens full of tree of different types. Moreover,
the pathways are laden with roses of different colors and varieties. The
view from Teen Murti House of the gardens below is awesome. A real feast for
the eyes. Moreover, the Teen Murti House museum gives a comprehensive view
to the struggle that Pt. Nehru faced in his life time. It has moments from
the time of struggle for freedom to Nehrus last days. More than that,
it has personal history of it. Nehru and his family, the letters that Pt.
Nehru father, Motilal Nehru sent to him during his growing years, the
photographs of different stages in his life. Then, the museum also has Pt.
Nehrus sitting room, Office, study, living room and bedroom. They all
deficit that he was a person interested in writing and reading with the
abundance of books present there.
A traveler should visit Teen Murti House because it gives a nutshell view
to the struggle that Indians went through to achieve their freedom. A
historical masterpiece.
